An 8-month-old girl is in the hospital following an attack by a pit bull dog in Mesa county last Tuesday, August 20. Several officers of the Mesa county animal control were sent to remove the dog from the home so that paramedics could treat the child. It is unclear how injured the girl is at this time and also unclear who owns the dog and if the dog lives at the residence of where the attack took place. More information will be released later this week.
According to dogbite.org, 38 people were killed in the United States in 2012 from dog attacks with 61% being from pit bulls. Since 1985, over 600 states have adopted bread specific regulations and in Denver, pit bull breads are illegal. 32% of all dog attacks in the United States happened to a person visiting or living in the residence where the dog lived.
